UQÀM Courses completed
- Becoming and ESL teacher [LNS 1001]
The aim of this course is to lead students to begin the reflective process that will allow them to assume responsibility for their own professional development as ESL teachers over the course of their studies and beyond. Students will get an overview of the field of second language teaching, and of the objectives, characteristics and requirements of their chosen programme of study, (including the professional, social and intellectual skills to be developed in the course of their studies, portfolio requirements, internship responsibilities). They will examine the interface between their programme and their future profession. They will set up an electronic professional development portfolio (portfolio) and participate in the creation of an on-line community of pre-service teachers. They will also become familiar with various resources (on-campus and off-campus) that will be of use to them as both pre- and in-service teachers.
